The training from day to day
Day 1 & 2: What you'll learn in the first weekend
During the first weekend, you’ll learn about Milton Erickson and the philosophy that laid the foundation for countless successful transformations worldwide. You’ll learn how the left and right brain hemispheres work together during hypnosis and discover the basic principles of Ericksonian hypnotherapy.
You’ll delve into deep trance phenomena and how to use them effectively in your sessions. You’ll also learn how to induce arm levitation in your client and use it for deep, unconscious healing, integration, corrections, memory retrieval, and more.
You’ll also learn to speak and act from the Heart—while simultaneously working as an Ericksonian hypnotherapist. You’ll use language patterns that invite the unconscious to release old pain, beliefs, and behaviors, making way for a new reality.
Finally, you’ll learn to apply typical Ericksonian techniques like Rossi’s Review and the Objective Review . These powerful tools can be used both as standalone sessions and to reinforce other techniques for maximum impact.
Day 3 & 4: Even deeper into the unconscious
In the second weekend, you’ll delve even deeper. You’ll learn the Dr. Unconscious Mind technique , which allows the client to experience what it feels like to have an awake mind in a sleeping body. This mind-body dissociation has numerous healing effects, when properly integrated into a session. You’ll have ample opportunity to experience this phenomenon yourself, in a safe and familiar setting.
You’ll also learn how to effortlessly combine various techniques into a clear framework for a complete session, fully tailored to the unique client for truly personalized care. You don’t have to plan this customization in advance: you’ll develop the skill of improvisation and client-responsiveness. During the session, you’ll follow the subtle signals the client unconsciously gives you. That’s precisely where the key to healing lies.
You will receive extensive demonstrations, so that you not only see, but also feel the power of hypnosis at the deepest level.
In this final block of Level 2, you will develop into a true master at reading people and using that skill for lasting transformation.
Day 5 & 6: The oldest and most powerful form of influence
On days 5 and 6, you’ll delve into Level 3, where you’ll be fully immersed in the art of Hypnotic Storytelling . In a trance, you’ll experience firsthand how a story can resonate deeply with you and touch subconscious levels.
Step by step, you’ll learn to tell stories that create a deep hypnotic state in your listeners. Just as Milton Erickson transformed his clients with his hypnotic stories, you’ll learn how to use words that trigger unconscious change.
You’ll discover how to use powerful language patterns, hidden messages, and symbolism, fully attuned to the subconscious and the needs of your client or audience. In your own authentic way, you’ll turn every story into a transformative experience.
Day 7 & 8: It all comes together
In the final weekend, everything will fall into place, and you’ll master Ericksonian hypnosis like a true professional. You’ll learn to use your intuition in a concrete, ethical, and effective way—one of the most important skills for any therapist.
We’ll strengthen your creative muscle by teaching you how to integrate metaphors, symbols, and fluid transitions into your stories. With comprehensive demonstrations and the opportunity to experience it yourself, you’ll rediscover the transformative power of Ericksonian storytelling.
You will also practice the world-famous Nested Loops technique , which you use to bring clients into a deep trance and subtly and powerfully anchor new suggestions in the unconscious.
Online private session with Sjoukje
In preparation for your next steps in Ericksonian hypnotherapy, you will receive a private online session with Sjoukje.
The training hasn’t just transformed your skills, sessions, and practice; your own subconscious has also undergone a profound transformation. After all, as a therapist and entrepreneur, you work with your own system, including the beliefs you carry within.
During this session, we’ll take the time to reflect on your personal journey. We’ll explore your dreams, goals, and mission, ensuring they align perfectly with the journey you’ve taken during the Ericksonian Hypnotherapy Levels 2 and 3 training.

The training takes place in the stylish 4-star hotel ‘t Paviljoen, nestled in the wooded Grebbeberg in Rhenen. The Level 2 and 3 training is unique, intensive, and in-depth. You’ll attend classes in small, select groups of 4 to 8 participants, with plenty of room for personal attention, interaction, and to ask any questions you may have.

Private session
To conclude the Level 2 and 3 training, you’ll receive a personal one-on-one session with trainer Sjoukje Emans. This approximately 45-minute online session offers ample opportunity for in-depth guidance, fully tailored to your process. This private session is designed to reflect on the transformation you’ve undergone in recent months and to anchor it in a way that truly resonates with you.
CAT & health insurance reimbursement
The Level 2 and 3 hypnotherapy professional training program is accredited by the Collective Alternative Therapists (CAT). This means that after completing the program, you can become a certified CAT therapist. If you hold a Basic Medical Knowledge (MBK) diploma, you can offer sessions after completing this program that are (partially) reimbursed by health insurers.
Graduation
Qualification and certification
On the final day of the course, you’ll conclude with a practical assignment: you’ll conduct a session with a fellow student in a safe setting (in pairs or threes, not in front of an audience). Upon successful completion, you’ll receive two certificates from the International Association of Professional Conversational Hypnotists (IAPCH)—your international recognition as a professional hypnotherapist.

Additional information
Contact hours and study load: The course consists of 16 half-days of 3 hours each, excluding all practice evenings and the optional private session. This amounts to a total of 8 days spread over approximately 3 months. The study load in addition to the classroom sessions is approximately 48 hours, including a series of online practice evenings of up to 2 hours each and optional literature study. This amounts to an average of approximately 3 hours of (optional) study load per week.
Who is this course intended for? For coaches and hypnotherapists with experience working with (practice) clients. The training is also suitable for anyone who wants to use storytelling to impact groups of people. This training is also suitable for therapists trained elsewhere who are looking to deepen and broaden their existing techniques.
Level of education: The course has a higher professional education working and thinking level.
Entry level: Advanced. Suitable for coaches and/or hypnotherapists with experience working with (practice) clients.
Objectives:
a) At the end of this training you will be prepared to serve clients with Ericksonian hypnotherapy in one or more hypnotherapy sessions.
b) You always act in an ethical and safe manner by considering the client’s interests and healing process as leading.
c) You have knowledge of the various Deep Trance Phenomena, Ericksonian sets and hypnotherapy techniques and the principle of Milton’s Weirdness.
d) You have the knowledge and skills to respond to the information provided by the client by using indirect hypnosis and hypnotic stories during the session(s).
e) You apply the Nested Loops in your hypnotherapy session(s) from an attitude in accordance with the principle of Milton’s Weirdness so that they are applicable to the client in question.
Study materials: At the start of the program, you will receive a manual for your own use. There are no mandatory study materials or required reading. However, recommended reading will be provided throughout the program to supplement and reinforce the material.
Exemptions: There is no exemption policy for the Ericksonian Hypnotherapy training.
Exam: On the last day of the course, you will be examined by performing several hypnotherapy techniques on a fellow student. You will do this in pairs. The examiner will assess whether you possess sufficient attitude, knowledge, and skills to be certified. If the student receives a failing grade, they can retake the exam free of charge at another time.
